Corporate Social Responsibility

How we work

Responsible sourcing starts with everyday decisions.

At Petaful, responsible manufacturing means looking at the full product: the paper we specify, the way parts are made and packed, and the people doing the work. These choices belong in the sourcing discussion from the beginning.

We work with buyers to turn material preferences, workplace requirements, and supplier documentation needs into a clear order brief. The sections below explain what to discuss with our team and what to review before production.

From material brief to finished carton

01 / Environment

Choose materials for the job they need to do.

A scratcher needs enough structure to hold its shape, a useful scratching surface, and packaging suited to its journey. We review board grade, flute, finish, and pack format together instead of treating material selection as a separate purchase.

  • Get the structure right. Use the sample to review flute, density, surface finish, and any replaceable parts before confirming the production specification.
  • Consider the complete item. Printed paper, films, adhesives, and water-resistant linings all matter when planning disposal guidance. Discuss the finished construction and the requirements of your market before approving pack claims.
  • Use carton space well. Where the design allows, compare flat or nested packing with assembled units. Review protection and handling alongside carton volume.

02 / People

The factory team is part of product quality.

Designers, machine operators, assemblers, inspectors, and packing teams each contribute to the finished order. Clear instructions, safe working conditions, and respect for people are central to the workplace we aim to maintain.

  • A shared reference. The approved sample and order specification help teams understand the required finish and the checks relevant to their work.
  • Respect at work. We place fair treatment, safe working conditions, and open communication at the center of how the factory operates.
  • Reviewable records. Buyers can request the current amfori BSCI and SMETA social audit files for their own supplier review.

03 / Responsible business

Make sourcing requirements part of the order.

Your retailer or import market may have specific requirements for materials, supplier audits, and on-pack wording. Share them during development so we can discuss the right materials and documents before the sample is approved.

  • State the requirement. Tell us the destination market, material requirements, artwork, and claims the finished pack must support.
  • Plan the documentation. If your program requires FSC board, include that in the brief. We can also help identify the certification and social audit records needed for your supplier review.
  • Follow up on the order. Use the order reference and product details when raising a quality question or planning a reorder, so both teams can work from the same information.

04 / Shared value

Build relationships that can grow with the business.

We want long-term partnerships with our team, suppliers, and customers. For a buying team, that starts with practical follow-through: learning from sample feedback, discussing changes early, and keeping the next order connected to what worked in the last one.

For buyers

Put responsibility into your sourcing brief.

Start with your material priorities, the product sample, and the supplier documents your team needs. We will help you work through each part.
